The detainee was taken via medical evacuatioin to an Army Medical Hospital in Balad. While being treated, he died from severe head injuries suffered during the altercation. He was pronounced dead at 1:13 p.m. by an attending physician. The military Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident.
